Our motto: An Apple A Day

Fall Apple Harvest

Many people are surprised to find that some of our apples ripen well-before Labor Day. For example, Gala apples ripen in mid-August. Other varieties aren't ready until well into October. Every variety ripens on its own schedule. The weather also can affect each variety differently so the ripening schedule can vary a bit from season to season.

Take a look at the timeline below to see when your favorites typically ripen. If you are interested in a particular variety, we suggest you call ahead to confirm availability. Mother nature does have a hand in all of this after all.

How to store your apples . . . The key is to keep apples cool and moist. If picked just when ripe and stored in carefully controlled conditions, apples will keep their sweetness and crispness for a surprising length of time.

Here's how: Store your apples in a refrigerator in the plastic bags we provide. Place a damp paper towel in the bag. Without this moisture, most frost-free refrigerators will dry out the applies, leaving them soft. That's all there is to it. Enjoy!
