Apple Wreath
Treat
your friends and family to a home-made gift.
Fill your
home with the aroma of apples and cinammon with this easy apple wreath.
It's the perfect size to hang over the entry to your kitchen or even from
the knob of a cabinet. It makes your home smell like apple pie.
Materials:
Craft wire (22 gauge or thicker)
10-12 apples
Sharp knife
Ground cinnamon
Ground cloves
Raffia or ribbons
Optional:
Acrylic craft spray
Steps:
- Before
slicing each apple, you may wish to push a nail down the length of it
along the core to make it easier to wire the wreath later.
- Slice
the apples across the core in slices 1/8" - 1/4" thick.
- Arrange
the apples on a drying tray, or on cookie sheets. Sprinkle with spice
mixture. Dry in food dryer or conventional oven. To dry in the oven,
you will need to place the slices in an oven set to 200 Fahrenheit for
2-3 hours. Remove when the apples are still slightly pliable.
- When the
apples are cool, string them onto the wire, forming a circle, and wind
the wire at the connection to make a hook.
- Place
a bow of raffia or ribbon to the top, where the wires come together.
Optional:
Preserve your wreath by applying a matte acrylic craft spray.
