Picking berries

Pre-picked options:

  • Flat - over 6 1/2 quarts
  • Picking Bucket - 3 quarts
  • Box - 3 pints

How many berries to order? For a strawberry (glaze) pie, jam or shortcake, we recommend a bucket of berries each. If you want to double your recipe and make a sweet treat for a friend or neighbor as well, a flat is probably your best option. And, of course, you'll want to make sure you order extra berries for ice cream, milk shakes and your morning bowl of cereal.

Recipe Suggestions

Fresh and fabulous: Strawberry Pecan Salad

All-time favorite: Strawberry Pretzel Salad/Dessert
(To use fresh berries, start by making the jello and then refrigerate. Continue with rest of recipe. By the time you are ready to work on the jello layer, the jello should be thickened up a bit so you can fold in the fresh fruit).

Strawberry Parfaits --We substituted coconut macaroons for the amaretti cookies. Yummy. These look all fancy-schmancy, but we had the kids help with them. It was a fun group project and everyone loved them for dessert. (Photo to right)

Other Recipe Ideas
Best picking times: In the cool of the day, morning or evening.

Strawberry Season

The strawberry patch is now closed.
The late frosts and hot weather shortened our season. :(

We hope you made it out! Guess it gives us more time to focus on growing those giant pumpkins.

We look forward to seeing you in the fall for raspberries, apples, pumpkins, and tons of orchard fun!

Bring your own picking container OR purchase a refundable container at the orchard to take home.

Picking after a rain isn't a problem with our straw-lined aisles.
